MALAYSIA CULTURAL RESEARCH
Malaysia is a multicultural country, there are 3 main races which are Chinese, Malay, and Indian, the other races are Kadazan Dusun and IBAN in Sabah and Sarawak. With the passing time and the development of technology, the traditional things like games and food are getting lesser in the market. Except for some older people, they are still trying to protect the traditional culture because there are not many young people who are involved in this sector.

CULTURE -ARCHITECTURE - SOCIETY

Culture in the different time periods is highly affecting the style of the architecture. The style of it will be changes based on the different occupiers from different cultures. The culture which is our daily activities, behavior, and religion will affect the architecture time by time. This is because architecture is designing the space to fulfill certain functions based on the needs of users and it could direct expressions of culture or belief. After designing the space, the architecture will affect society which is related to human health, mood, and productivity.

These are the differences between traditional and modern architecture. In the past, architecture was used to express cultural identity. Because the initial settlement of immigrants from China and India assert their own cultural identity through architecture. While in the present, architecture was used to express our national pride. Since Malaysia's independence, the buildings left by the occupiers have become the pride of the nation in its struggle for independence.

The different kinds of culture will highly affect the appearance of buildings and materials. Through my research, traditional architecture mostly uses eco-friendly materials like wood and their buildings mostly will have arches and big windows. While for modern architecture, glass and steel structure is the common materials that have been used in building. Open concept is used and a lot of buildings were built in irregular shape to attract the pass-byer attention.
