- ABOUT PROPOSAL -

WHAT?

To create a place to promote traditional food and to remind the public of traditional games, to teach a new generation of children about games or other interesting things (dance) that existed before electronics were invented

WHY?

  • During the epidemic, many museums and cultures cannot be open, and traditional festivals cannot be celebrated, so culture may be at risk of disappearing

  • People nowadays don't really pay much attention to traditional things (traditional games, crafts, food, and so on)

  • addicted to electronic devices, and we are always looking for happiness electronically

  • don't know is that there's a lot of fun to be found in traditional game or craftsmanship

  • And with the passage of time, the traditional things will slowly precipitate in the scientific and technological society

CLIENT

Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture. Their vision is to develop Malaysia as a world-class tourist and cultural destination and their mission is to make sustainable socio-economic growth, as well as strengthen, conserve and preserve national arts, culture, and heritage.

ACTIVITIES

The activities that will be provided in my spaces are a food kiosk selling traditional kuih and Malaysia style food, a seating area combined with a game area, an outdoor demo stage, a digital games room, an exhibition area, and also snack retail.

SPACE NEEDED

CONCEPT- RECALL

  • bring (a fact, event, or situation) back into one's mind; remember

  • the action or faculty of remembering something learned or experienced

  • an act or instance of officially recalling someone or something

ELEMENT - PHOTOGRAPHIC FILM

  • Represent traditionally

  • Use to documents memories/pictures

  • pull out when want to see the pictures

  • Pull the culture/memories back to society

SKETCHES

These are my element sketches. I'm trying to explore different forms from the element. Some of the sketches look like a swirl that can create a time tunnel effect.

CASE STUDY

Scotch Hoppers in Parnie Street

  • an outdoor play area with totally new games designed especially for the festival – and for all ages

  • inspired by traditional street games

  • Bringing people back to public spaces together instead of playing digital games at home

  • People responded that playing in public spaces is doesn’t happen anymore

  • many streets are busier now, that there are more digital options for playing

Xinyu City Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition Hall

  • retains the function of presenting heritage, but also achieves the purpose of cultural exchange

  • A lingering sound swirls around each scene box

  • get a comprehensive interactive experience that is informative, entertaining, and interesting

  • To achieve real "people" as the core of the visit effect, this is the constant goal of Space Idea
