FINAL

FACADE VIEW

The facade is using linear lighting to design it which creates a time flashing and time-lapse effect to the building. And it also can catch people's attention when people pass by at night.


ENTRANCE

Yellow color aluminum frame attached with a different color of the lighting to create a

welcoming and relaxing mood for users once they enter.


FOOD KIOSK

The food kiosk named it warung, Kopitiam, and Mamak to represent the main 3 races in Malaysia. The food kiosks are using the traditional pattern as counter design and different architecture styles like warung is using the layering wood, the Kopitiam is using the traditional shophouse, the upper part to place the signage of shops. While for Mamak, it is always very bright, and Indian people quite like those bright colors like orange, and yellow, and blue color as well.


VIEW NEXT TO FOOD KIOSK

On the left side is the toilet. The exterior of it is designed using the traditional metal framework


SEATING AREA

An open seating area for people to enjoy food and play traditional board games. It is only covered by the pergola with a shade sail, so when the sun is too hot, they can just close the shade sail and continue to enjoy their meal. Traditional materials like bamboo and rattan were used for the furniture to make it more vintage feel because these materials are usually used in the past. The pangkin, outdoor seating platform is placed to make it a more “kampung” feel. Here is the exploded structure of the pangkin. It can fit up to 6 or 8 people once. Then this is the board game attached with the eating table. So when users finish eating they want to play they can just open up the cover and play.




LIVE DEMO STAGE This is the live cooking demo stage to show how to prepare different types of traditional food like kuih to the public. The purpose of this activity is to promote traditional food to let more people know about this and they can try to cook if they are interested in it. Here is the explosion of the stage design.




BITE TIME

This is a snack retail shop, selling Malaysian childhood snacks like a man-made ice pop. This space can let adults or older people recall their childhood memories. The entrance of the shop is inspired by the traditional aluminum biscuit tin. The old wood deck is used as decor for the space to create a more past-time mood. The wall is using the old wood panel and the floor is using laminated wood flooring.


PLAYTIME

This is an egames room, providing some digital traditional games like xiangqi, checkers, carrom and snake and ladder. A Gameboy shape screen is an instruction screen, it provides different information about traditional games. The flooring is designed in the net shape that is inspired by the board game. Blue and magenta neon lighting are used to create a playful environment for users and also can attract them to come and play.


EXHIBITION

This is the exhibition that displayed different items related to different races in Malaysia. This area can boost users’ minds to remember how they grew in the past. And at the same time introduce new generations to let them know more about traditional culture. The entrance is using an arch shape with lighting attached to create a time tunnel feeling when they enter the space. Then they will see the traditional clothes and the traditional dance and opera. The dancer is using the projector to project out instead of just putting a human figure, which will be more interactive. Then the last part is showing the scene and object that only appears in the past to create a sense of time.


WATER SHOWTIME

Here is the view in the first-floor walkway. They can stand there and see the water show from the river of life from 9:15pm to 11pm.
