We have a trip of study visit to two crafts workspace which are jewellery making and tailor.

When we are in the jewellery making workspace, I am so surprising when saw their facilities, tools and studio. The owner is a foreigner and she start learning jewellery making when she was 10 years old. I appreciate her ability to stick to what she likes and not be afraid of any difficulties. In her studio, she encourages everyone to open up and shares idea together. This can let them learn something from others and “grow up” together.

There is one thing that make me surprise is the tools that used for jewellery making. It really looks like the utilities that used in dental and hospital.

I really like the way she arranges the stuff for her class. She designs a storage (cupboard) in the corridor outside her office. She keeps those small materials in a transparent box with labelling which make her easily to take what she need for today class.

Through these two study trip, I have learnt a lots of things. I think the ways they design the workspace like working tables and tools are well worth learning. They design the table size which is suitable and comfortable for them when working and they prepared adequate tools for each table to avoid they borrowing from others tables.

I have do some research about the trade that I chose. I realised that most of the website are saying the same things. For a flower shop, the important things for them are the storage for keeping flower and tools that use for packaging the flower, diaplay racks for flowers and some decoration to attract peoples, huge trashcan and a floor sink.

Here are some of the key things that gave from the flower shop owner:

>Simple wall design because the flowers are already bring different colors to the shop. If the wall was designed in a lot of colours, it cannot pop up the special of the flower.

>Needed an enough storage to store tools, materials and display flower.

>Use mirror glass wisely to make the space more bigger and the bouquets multiply because of the reflection.

>A nice diaplay racks to display product which can let customers enjoy the flowers while waiting their order.
